MANILA, Philippines — University of Santo Tomas setter Cassie Carballo has a tattoo on her right arm to remind her that she can overcome adversities whatever happens.

Carballo had the phrase “come what may” inked on her arm as her inspiration every game as she leads the young UST Tigresses in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament.

“For me, inspiration ko ito. To remind myself na no matter what happens kakayanin ko kung ano man yung haharapin ko,” Carballo told Inquirer Sports.

The sophomore playmaker has a couple of tattoos including white ink symbols, which mean God is greater than the highs and lows.

Carballo has a red heart inked on her left wrist — a matching tattoo with her friend and teammate Reg Jurado.

She also has a blue-inked Aquarius zodiac sign under her collarbone.

Carballo has been vital in UST’s impressive run, winning 10 of its 12 games to clinch a Final Four berth. She’s also a favorite to win the Best Setter award but her ultimate goal is to bring the Tigresses back to the finals.

“Yung individual awards, wala. Yung goal ko since pumasok ako ng UST last year is madala yung team sa finals and hopefully this season makuha namin,” she said. “One game at a time lang.”
