Clyde Mondilla closed out with a two-under-par 70 on Friday and won on the Philippine Golf Tour for the first time this year, his three-shot victory over Angelo Que in the ICTSI Caliraya Springs Championship just the perfect confidence boost he needs as he preps for a stint in the Japan Developmental Tour.
Mondilla, the 2017 Order of Merit winner, broke par all four days and tallied 278 over the picturesque layout, pocketing P450,000 out of the P2.5 million pot while also regaining the belief that he can get it done.
“I hope to secure a status on the JGT (Japan Golf Tour) so I won’t have to go through the Q-School. Hopefully, I can perform well there,” said Mondilla, who will be playing in the coming Abema Tour events.
Que, the former Philippine Open champion and Asian Tour regular, fired his best round of the week, an eagle-aided, bogey-less 66 that vaulted him past Keanu Jahns and Tae Soo Kim for second place.
