MANILA, Philippines—TNT may be sliding down the standings of the PBA Philippine Cup but Calvin Oftana remained optimistic about their chances.

The Tropang Giga faltered to Ginebra, 87-83, at Philsports Arena on Friday but Oftana still made it clear that he’s not losing faith in his team.

If anything, TNT is “always pressing the panic button,” with their intent to win every game.

“We always take one game at a time but if we’re talking panic buttons, we always press that because we want to win every game and it’s not an easy game every time,” said Oftana in Filipino with Inquirer Sports.

“The other teams may be strong and even though we’re in the middle right now, we’ll still take one game at a time.”

The San Beda product dropped 19 points, five rebounds and three assists but to no avail as TNT dropped to a 4-4 card.

Roger Pogoy also turned in a 19-point outing but TNT was unable to subdue Ginebra, which improved its position in the standings to stay a game below second-seeded NLEX.

Currently, Northport and Tropang Giga are in a two-way tie for the sixth seed with identical records but despite that, Oftana’s confidence hasn’t wavered.

“[My confidence is] always high. I’m confident with my teammates, coaches and their adjustments. I trust them with confidence.”
