LONDON—Tomohiko Hoshina’s stint in the 30th Olympics in London lasted a little over a minute on Friday.
He lost his first bout in the over 100 kg division, submitting to Southt Korea’s Kim Sung-Min in just a minute and five seconds.
The match ended when Kim slammed Hoshima to the mat for an ippon, scoring the highest point in judo.
With Hoshima’s loss, the country’s hope for a medal in the London Olympics rests on four Filipino athletes.
