MANILA, Philippines—Meralco will have to make do without Aaron Black amid its playoff push in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Black will be sidelined for quite some time after suffering an ACL tear in the Bolts’ 74-51 win over the Magnolia Hotshots on Sunday.

The 27-year-old guard vowed to come back stronger from the injury.

“[This is] not the update I was hoping to give but I really appreciate everyone checking in,” Black posted on Instagram.

“Thank you again and I will be back stronger from this,” he added.

Black hurt his right knee at the 10:13 mark of the third quarter when he attempted a layup and had to be carried by his teammates off the floor.

Black’s absence will be sorely missed by Meralco, which is fighting for a playoff spot. The former Ateneo guard averaged 12.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists this conference.

The Bolts are currently in seventh place with a 5-5 record.
