CEU 5 starts title defense as 43rd WNCAA opens
CENTRO Escolar University begins its bid for a second straight senior basketball title as the 43rd Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) kicks off today at Philsports Arena in Pasig.
CEU will take on Philippine Women’s University at 2 p.m.
St. Scholastica’s College and University of Asia & the Pacific collide in the other seniors battle after the 11 a.m. opening rites to be graced by former tennis champion and television personality Dyan Castillejo.
Article continues after this advertisementHost and defending midgets champion De La Salle Zobel debuts tomorrow against St. Stephen’s High School at 8:30 a.m. at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong. DLSZ was also champion in junior basketball, junior futsal for the fourth straight year and midget cheerdance last season.
Rizal Technological U, the winningest senior squad last year with five titles, begins its title-retention campaign in volleyball next Sunday, Aug. 12, against UA&P. RTU also ruled futsal, table tennis, swimming and taekwondo during the 42nd season.
A total of 18 schools will dispute titles in badminton, basketball, cheerleading/cheerdance (midgets), futsal, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball and softball (juniors only).
