MANILA, Philippines—Creamline has found something unique in its system that only a few other teams have in the PVL.

According to Creamline ace Tots Carlos, the Cool Smashers have a clear edge above the competition with their “champion’s mindset.”

“We just have a champion’s mindset every day. Coach told us that we can’t control every situation so we can’t be perfect or not everything will be in our favor so if there are times that the situations don’t favor us, we just fight through it,” said Carlos on Sunday.

“We’re happy when we win but if we don’t, we know where we lack and we know that every one of us will bounce back.”

That same mentality fueled Creamline past Chery Tiggo, 25-16, 25-21, 25-20, to book a seat in the PVL All-Filipino Conference Finals.

But it’s not looking like an easy cruise for Creamline with fellow powerhouse Choco Mucho keen on spoiling the Cool Smashers’ bid to repeat.

While facing the Flying Titans may not be that much of a concern for the Cool Smashers a few months back, things have changed since their last encounter on Tuesday. That game marked the first time that Choco Mucho beat Creamline in 13 tries.

Choco Mucho seemingly having cracked Creamline’s code doesn’t appear to worry Carlos.

“Honestly, for me, our season’s good because even if we lost [some games], we’re here in the championship so we’re happy with what happened, the process, that’s the most important thing. The championship is like our prize right now.”
