MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala set a new career-high in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings in singles and doubles after her twin championship conquest in the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain last Sunday.

The 19-year-old Eala jumped from her previous singles career-high from world No. 155 to 143 on Monday.

Eala earned her fifth singles championship in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) after beating Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra in the final, 6-4, 6-4.

She also reached a new career-high of world No. 208 in doubles.

Eala ruled the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz doubles with her French partner Estelle Cascino after beating Lia Karatancheva of Bulgaria and Diana Marcinkevica of Latvia, 6-3, 2-6, 10-4, in the final.

“This win means the world to me, it even made me ugly cry. I am so proud because this represents the culmination of so much hard work. Securing my biggest titles yet in both singles and doubles is a fairytale finish, and I’m overwhelmed with emotion,” Eala wrote on Instagram.

“This will always have a special place in my heart, and I leave here with a pocket full of great memories and the will to work harder.”

It was the Filipino’s third doubles title and second championship with Cascino since ruling the W75 Croissy-Beaubourg in France last March.

Eala won two titles in one tournament for the first time while also securing a maiden $100,000 title run.

The Filipino tennis ace will compete in the WTA Warsaw singles division, facing Isabella Shinikova of Bulgaria in the first round on Tuesday evening.
