Team Philippines’ Nesthy Petecio toyed with Indian rival Jaismine in the 2024 Paris Olympics women’s 57-kilogram boxing tournament at past midnight Wednesday (Manila time), coasting in the final round to save something for her next bout.

MANILA, Philippines—Team Philippines rower Joanie Delgaco struggled to keep up with the rest of the field as her medal campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 came to an end on Tuesday (Manila time).
Delgaco crossed the finish line last with a time of 7:58.30, which was 24 seconds slower than the last semifinal qualifier at Nautica St – Flat Water. FULL STORY

The core of the crack Philippine boxing delegation plunges into action in the Paris Olympics on Tuesday with Games first-timer Aira Villegas getting the team off on the right foot with a swashbuckling conquest of a Moroccan foe in the opening round of the women’s 50-kilogram division.
Villegas scored a 5-0 win over Yasmine Mouttaki at North Paris Arena in France on Monday, giving the rest of the team the jumpstart it needs as Nesthy Petecio and Eumir Marcial climb the same ring looking to better performances that fell just short of the gold medal in Tokyo 2020.

MANILA, Philippines—Eumir Marcial has yet to make his debut at the Paris Olympics 2024 but he already felt like a winner days before his opening bout.
Marcial on Monday ticked off an item on his bucket list after meeting one of his boxing heroes in former pound-for-pound king Gennady Golovkin at the Olympic Village in France.
