MANILA, Philippines—The country’s only Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo rallied for support for the Team Philippines in the Paris Summer Games.
In an Instagram post on Friday, Diaz-Naranjo showed her support for the Philippines delegation, which is still seeking its first medal in the Paris Olympics.
Diaz-Naranjo said her compatriots in Paris will “show the world what Filipinos are made of.” FULL STORY

MANILA, Philippines—Jarod Hatch’s run in the Paris Olympics 2024 ended in the heats of men’s 100m butterfly swimming competition at Paris La Defense Arena on Friday (Manila time).
The Team Philippine swimmer ended up in eighth and last place in his respective race after clocking in 54.66 seconds. Overall, that put him in the 36th spot out of 40 swimmers.

MANILA, Philippines—After a heartbreaking loss in the Paris Olympics 2024’s women’s single sculls rowing quarterfinals, Team Philippines’ Joanie Delgaco ended her campaign on a strong note.
In the classification race at Nautical St – Flat Water on Friday afternoon (Manila time), Delgaco finished in second place out of six rowers in Heat D with an official time of 7:43.83 minutes. FULL STORY

MANILA, Philippines—What better way for Team Philippines boxer Aira Villegas to celebrate her birthday than moving closer to an assured medal in the Paris Olympics 2024.

Aira Villegas on early Friday (Philippine time) became the second Team Philippines boxer to advance to the quarterfinals in the Paris Olympics 2024.

Eumir Marcial gets advice from Golovkin after Paris Olympics exit

MANILA, Philippines—A few days ago, Team Philippine boxer Eumir Marcial bumped into boxing sensation Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in a fan-meets-idol encounter in the streets of Paris.
On Wednesday, just after Marcial’s unfortunate early exit in the Paris Olympics 2024 men’s 80kg boxing tournament, Golovkin consoled the Filipino slugger after his stinging loss.
“I admire you in the boxing ring, but I admire you even more outside of it when you approached me to cheer me up and give advice,” wrote Marcial in a Facebook post. FULL STORY

Although a medal in the Paris Olympics is already out of the question, Joanie Delgaco could burst into a territory no Filipino rower—male or female—has ever reached before, and that is to be in the world’s top 20.
The 26-year-old multiple Southeast Asian (SEA) Games medalist moved forward to achieving the goal despite placing fifth out of six rowers in her semifinal C/D race of the women’s single sculls classification phase after timing eight minutes and 00.18 seconds for the 2,000-meter race. FULL STORY

MANILA, Philippines—Carlos Yulo may have finished 12th in the Paris Olympics 2024’s men’s gymnastics all-around finalè on Thursday morning (Manila time) but make no mistake about it, he gained much-needed lessons for his upcoming final events.
“Although I made mistakes, I learned a lot. It feels so good to be included in the Finals of all-around. It’s a big leap from the Tokyo Olympics,” said Yulo in Filipino in an interview with official Paris Olympics broadcaster One Sports. FULL STORY

MANILA, Philippines — Hergie Bacyadan admitted the lack of experience got the better of her after an early exit in the Paris Olympics 2024 but it was still a debut to remember.
Bacyadan yielded to No.1 seed and two-time Olympic medalist Li Qian of China in the women’s 75-kilogram round of 16 on Wednesday at North Star Paris Arena.
“It’s really a bit disappointing because I was already here,” said the Filipino Olympic debutant in an interview with Olympics broadcaster One Sports. FULL STORY
