MANILA, Philippines–Farm Fresh notched its second win in the PVL Reinforced Conference Pool A after dismantling skidding Nxled, 25-16, 25-15, 25-17, on Saturday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Yeny Murillo powered the Foxies with 22 points, all but one from attacks and Trisha Tubu added 16 attack points on 57 percent attack efficiency thanks to Louie Romero’s 13 excellent sets.

“[The Foxies] are becoming one [unit]. They concentrated on this game. They played very well today,” coach Shota Sato, who praised Tubu with her performance, said through a translator.

With its second consecutive win, following a five-set victory against Galeries Tower on Tuesday, the Foxies improved to a 2-2 record, to stay within distance of a top three finish in their bracket.

Farm Fresh came out of the gates strong, never letting the Chameleons gain an advantage against them throughout the one-hour and 19-minute matchup.

And it seems like the Foxies are getting the hang of their Japanese mentor’s system, especially after getting busy in the offseason to train with Japanese club Kurashiki Ablaze.

Nxled, which lost its third consecutive game, showed signs of life in the deciding frame after relentlessly finding the far right corner of the Foxies’ floor to land its cross-court kills as import Meegan Hart, who finished with seven points, tied the set at 12-all.

But the Foxies didn’t want to prolong the game and turned up the intensity with a Tubu kill for a 21-15 lead before Lycha Ebon committed an attack error that got caught in the net.

Chiara Permentilla was the lone silver lining after producing 12 points, all from attacks, that somehow kept Nxled in step in the endgame. She also had 12 excellent receptions.

The Chameleons sank to 1-3, their only win coming at the expense of the Highrisers.

Farm Fresh hopes to continue its winning ways against a tough PLDT squad, which remains undefeated.

“Before our match against PLDT, this game is very important and a good way to continue our rise heading into the next game,” Sato said.

“PLDT has a very good offense and defense so we will continue implementing our Japanese system that focuses on defense,” he added.
