Eumir Marcial locks in on pro career, eyes December fight
MANILA, Philippines—Eumir Marcial doubled down on focusing on his professional boxing career after his short stint in the Paris Olympics.
In his latest Instagram post, Marcial said getting gold in the Olympics is still the dream but added his pro career will now be his main focus at this point.
Article continues after this advertisement“I am not closing my doors in wanting to achieve my ultimate dream, which is to win an Olympic gold medal,” wrote Marcial on Wednesday.

“But I think I’m making the right decision to pour my focus into my professional career, and in continuing to bring honor to our country.”
Marcial had already hinted about concentrating fully on his pro career following a stunning exit at the Paris Games earlier this month where he lost his opening bout to Uzbekistan’s Turabek Khabibullaev.
Article continues after this advertisementThe 28-year-old Marcial, who competes in the middleweight division, is currently 5-0 with three knockouts as a pro.

The Zamboanga City native last fought as a pro in March when he overpowered Thai journeyman Thoedsak Sinam in just four rounds at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Marcial hopes t next fight is still lacking specifics but he made sure to drop some hints in the same Instagram post.
“I guess I’ll see you guys back in the ring in December.”
