MANILA, Philippines — Team Philippines medalist led by Paris Olympics 2024 double gold winner Carlos Yulo received cash incentives from sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan on Thursday. 

Yulo received a cash reward of P10 million from the MVP Sports Foundation, while bronze medalist boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas got P2 million each for their impressive showing in the Paris Games.

Pangilinan, the owner of PBA teams TNT, NLEX, and Meralco and PVL teams PLDT and Cignal, also promised to give Yulo’s coaches P5 million and P2 million each for Villegas and Petecio’s coaching staff.

“Happy to announce a cash reward of 10M for Caloy and 2M each for Nesthy and Aira. In addition, we are giving 5M to Caloy’s coaching team and 2M to the boxing coaches,” wrote Pangilinan, who has been supporting Gilas Pilipinas.

Pangilinan vows to continue supporting Filipino athletes in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028.

“Like always, they can count on our continued support until LA 2028. Mabuhay ang ateletang Pinoy!” he added. 

Yulo received more than P100 million, half from the government and the other from private companies after ruling the Olympic floor exercise and vault.
