MANILA, Philippines — Japanese volleyball star Ran Takahashi landed in Manila Thursday on the eve of his meet and greet with Filipino volleyball fans.
PVL team Akari, the local brand that tapped Takahashi as local ambassador, shared a video of the Ryujin Nippon spiker arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
“Finally, I’m here again. I’m so excited,” said Takahashi.

The electronics brand has prepared a limited meet and greet with Takahashi on Friday afternoon with a close-up photo opportunity and a fan signing event.
Takahashi is also expected to meet the Akari Chargers, who will be facing Farm Fresh in the PVL Reinforced Conference quarterfinals on Saturday, as well as the Nxled Chameleons.
The Ryujin Nippon fan-favorite has been one of the squad’s most anticipated player in their past three Volleyball Nations League stints in Manila.

Takahashi and the Japanese Spikers reached the VNL Final only to settle for silver after losing to France, which also won gold in the Paris Olympics 2024.
Japan suffered a heartbreaking loss in the Paris Olympics to Italy in the quarterfinal, blowing a two-set lead.
Takahashi and his squad are expected to compete in the country’s hosting of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship at Mall of Asia and Smart Araneta Coliseum.
