MANILA, Philippines—EJ Obiena missed the podium in the Silesia Diamond League on Sunday (Manila time) in Chorzow, Poland.

Obiena finished in fifth place just less than a week after placing joint third with Sondre Guttormsen of Norway and Kurtis Marschall of Australia in the Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland.

The 28-year-old Obiena, the world No. 3 pole vaulter, cleared 5.82 meters before faltering at 5.92m twice.

Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis won the gold in record-breaking fashion anew.

Duplantis broke his own record with a 6.26m jump, adding a centimeter to the previous mark he set when he claimed the gold at the Paris Olympics earlier this month.

“Everything just came together to allow me to do this,” he said. “I know a lot of people came here to see me jump, so I wanted to put in a good showing for them.”

It marked the third time this year that the 24-year-old Duplantis has set a world record.

The United States’ Sam Kendricks seized the silver with a 6.0m clearance, besting Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis via countback.
