JAKARTA—Smart Gilas Pilipinas went on to complete a three-game sweep of the eliminations with a 106-51 romp over Singapore in the 9th Southeast Asian Basketball Association Championship at the BritAma Arena Saturday night.
Chris Tiu, Mark Barroca and Chris Lutz combined in a 16-0 start by the Nationals, who treated the game against the winless Singaporeans as a virtual warmup for their title date today against the winner of the Indonesia-Malaysia game, which was still going on at press time.
Indonesia and Malaysia had earlier secured the two other seats to the Asian championship in Wuhan, China, on Sept. 15-25 after beating Singapore.
“The game plan was to stop their penetrations and play more aggressive than we did against Malaysia,” said Smart Gilas coach Rajko Toroman. “It was a success. We played a great game.”
