Marcos to 2024 Paralympic athletes: ‘You are already champions’

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday wished the athletes who are set to compete for the 2024 Paris Paralympics Games the best of luck, tagging them as “champions” for exemplifying the spirit of the Filipino people.

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday wished the athletes who are set to compete for the 2024 Paris Paralympics Games the best of luck, tagging them as “champions” for exemplifying the spirit of the Filipino people.

Marcos penned the statement in dedication to all the athletes competing in the 2024 Paralympics, namely, Allain Keanu Ganapin, Angel Mae Otom, Agustina Maximo Bantiloc, Cendy Asusano, Ernie Gawilan and Jerrold Pete Mangliwan.

“As you represent the Philippines in the 2024 Paris Paralympics Games, know that you are all already champions in our eyes,” Marcos said.

“Your commitment to your training as elite athletes, despite challenges you face, exemplifies the spirit of the Filipino people,” he added.

According to Marcos, no accolades or reward can return the pride they bring to the country, reminding them that the entire nation is supporting them “every step of the way.”

“Compete with the heart of Filipino warriors, and show the world the strength of our people. We are all immensely proud of you. Best of luck, and Mabuhay ang Team Pilipinas,” he added.

The paralympics will be competed by 4,350 bets from 168 countries and will be held August 28 to September 8.
