NU, FEU juniors whip foes, remain unbeaten in UAAP juniors basketball

MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion National University and Far Eastern University whipped their respective foes to remain unbeaten Tuesday in the UAAP Season 75 juniors’ basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Bulldogs dumped UP Integrated School, 69-47, while the Tamaraws pummeled Adamson, 80-59, as the two squads notched their sixth straight win.

John Cauilan, Reggie Morido and Ralph Busa scored a combined 34 markers for the Bullpups, who never let up from the opening tip.

Reigning MVP Jerie Pingoy, who along with Bullpups’ Hubert Cani, will leave for Mongolia Wednesday to join the Philippine under-18 team in the FIBA Asia tournament, led the Baby Tamaraws with 21 points.

In other juniors’ games, University of Santo Tomas turned back De La Salle-Zobel, 78-71, to seize solo third place with a 4-2 record, while Ateneo crushed University of the East, 79-53.

Alvin Ungria displayed an all-around game with 17 points, six rebounds and five steals for the Tiger Cubs.

Jose Mendoza scored 13 points for the Blue Eaglets, who tied the Junior Archers in fourth spot at 3-3.

The Baby Falcons and the Junior Maroons fell to 1-5, while the Junior Warriors remained at the cellar at 0-6.
