NLEX escaped San Miguel by the skin of its teeth on Saturday night, taking home a 112-108 overtime victory to get back to the win column of the PBA Governors’ Cup.

The Road Warriors turned to import Myke Henry’s two-way performance of 33 points, six rebounds, six assists spiked with two steals and two blocks to take down the powerhouse Beermen at Aquilino Q. Pimentel Jr. International Convention Center in Cagayan de Oro City.

NLEX took control of the road game going into the second half, 52-47, but import Jordan Adams and CJ Perez kept the Beermen in the game, which led to an extra session.

SCHEDULE: 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup elimination round

Robbie Herndon hit a tough triple with 28.2 ticks remaining in overtime to preserve the heroics of his Henry, eventually helping hike the Road Warriors’ record to 3-1.

Robert Bolick had 20 points, Michael Miranda 17, while rookie Jonnel Policarpio chipped in at least 10 points, to match Jhan Nermal and Herndon’s respective outputs.

Adams finished with 36 points, Perez with 29, while reigning league MVP June Mar Fajardo added 19 as the Beermen dropped to 2-2.

The two teams were coming off losses in Group B play. NLEX recovered from an embarrassing 124-104 loss to Rain or Shine, while San Miguel was reeling from a 108-102 nipping at the hands of Barangay Ginebra.

NLEX will try to get another streak going when it battles Barangay Ginebra on Tuesday.

San Miguel, meanwhile, tries to stop the bleeding when it takes on red-hot Rain or Shine on Sept. 5.
