Magnolia made Terrafirma an unsightly thing to see on Sunday night with a 124-103 blowout in the PBA Governors’ Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.
The Hotshots flattened the Dyip early on behind the efforts of Jerrick Ahanmisi and Ian Sangalang, and then held on for a rebound victory in Group A that hiked their record to 2-2 (win-loss).
“I told the players that (through our) failures, what’s important is how we bounced back. We started strong, I think our defense dictated the pace right away,” head coach Chito Victolero said.

“I’m very happy. Though the second half, the guys relaxed. Overall I’m still proud,” he added.
Import Glenn Robinson III had 20 points and 13 rebounds in the triumph, while Zavier Lucero added in 15 to go with Sangalang’s eventual 14 points.
Ahanmisi, the leading local for most quad-shots made, reset his mark with a 4-for-8 shooting from the new stripe.
Terrafirma, missing some key players, turned to new guys Stanley Pringle and Christian Standhardinger, who finished with 23 points and 22, respectively.

Juami Tiongson and Kemark Cariño missed the contest for Terrafirma as both nursed varying ailments, ultimately dooming the club to its fourth loss in as many games.
Magnolia led by as many as 38 in the rout that put the club back on winning track following a close 88-82 loss to TNT last Thursday.
The Hotshots hope to get a streak going against a NorthPort side that’s catching fire in a match set Sept. 4.
Terrafirma, meanwhile, hopes to finally break through against the Group A leader TNT on Sept. 5.
