MANILA, Philippines–After three fruitless tries to open the conference, Blackwater has finally got a streak going in the PBA Governors’ Cup after defeating Phoenix, 123-111.

The Bossing used its one-two punch of import George King and rookie Sedrick Barefield all of Tuesday night to improve to 2-3 in Group B play of the import-laden conference.

King, who starred in Blackwater’s breakthrough win over Ginebra last Friday, had 44 points and 13 rebounds, while Barefield chipped in 32 and five as the pair came through—for a second straight time—in the contest at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Import Brandon Francis had 45 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists in his debut for the Fuel Masters. But with only Jason Perkins stepping up with double-digit production among the locals, the petrol club had no choice but to settle for yet another loss.

Phoenix has dropped four games in the tournament and will face a steeper task in securing its first win when it battles Barangay Ginebra next.

Blackwater hopes to make it three against NLEX this coming Friday.
