NLEX is set to acquire reliable forward Javee Mocon from Phoenix in a proposed trade still pending the approval of the PBA, the team said Wednesday.

The Road Warriors are sending third-year big man Ato Ular and a second round draft pick in the league’s 51st season under the terms of the swap that the league’s trade committee is scrutinizing as of posting time.

Mocon’s impending move comes at a time NLEX is in need to improve its record in the ongoing Governors’ Cup with a 3-3 record going into the match with San Miguel Beer at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

SCHEDULE: 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup elimination round

Phoenix, meanwhile, is parting ways with Mocon despite lagging in the cellar of Group B, having gone winless in six games following Wednesday’s defeat to group leader Rain or Shine.

The Fuel Masters got Mocon in a deal with the Elasto Painters in June 2022, subsequently signing the San Beda product to a three-year contract.

Ular is set to play for his third team since being drafted by Blackwater in the second round of the 2022 Rookie Draft.

He joined NLEX from Blackwater last February through a three-way trade that sent Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser to TNT.
But Ular has played sparingly for the Road Warriors.
