NLEX officially named DeQuan Jones as its replacement import in a bid to turn the team’s fortunes around in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Road Warriors said Jones will make his debut Tuesday against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters after playing the past seven games with fellow ex-NBA player Myke Henry.
“With DeQuan, we gain an experienced player who has played all over the world. He will help us rally and secure a spot in the playoffs,” NLEX coach Jong Uichico said.

Jones suited up for the Orlando Magic during the 2012-13 NBA season and had played alongside former NLEX star Kiefer Ravena in Japan’s B.League for the Shiga Lakes.
He was spotted watching the Road Warriors’ 119-114 loss to the San Miguel Beermen last Wednesday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium and met Uichico and the rest of the team at the locker room after the game.
NLEX is banking on Jones to keep the team on the inside track of the four quarterfinal seats in Group B after falling to 3-4 with three straight defeats.
Aside from San Miguel, NLEX also fell to Barangay Ginebra and Blackwater during its slump.
