MANILA, Philippines—College of St. Benilde continued its torrid start in the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball tournament.
The Blazers blasted the Perpetual Help Altas, 78-51, on Wednesday at San Juan Arena.
The blowout victory hiked Benilde’s record to 4-0 which is their best start under coach Charles Tiu.
It was a defensive clinic by CSB, which cruised to a 50-29 lead at halftime.
Justin Sanchez led the cavalry with 13 points and eight rebounds while guard Tony Ynot also had a near-double-double effort with 12 points and eight boards.
Rookie Mark Gojo Cruz tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Altas, who dropped to a 2-2 card.

Meanwhile, Jose Rizal University notched its first win, snapping a three-game losing streak at the expense of San Sebastian, 90-74.
Marvin Raymundo turned in a stellar game with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds to fuel the Heavy Bombers while Mart Barrera added 18 points.
Rafael Are, who’s had a sensational start for the Golden Stags, continued to impress with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists in a losing effort.
After two consecutive wins to open the season, San Sebastian has now suffered back-to-back losses.
JRU aims to get a streak going but will be facing a tall order against defending champion San Beda on Saturday.
