AYALA Harpoons ran away with the overall championship for the second straight time, beating 55 other clubs in the Speedo National Long Course Swimming Championships at Rizal Memorial Complex pool recently.
The Harpoons amassed 1,374 points, more than half of the 656 tallied by runner-up Makati Skipjacks. The Quezon City Buccaneers Swim Club rounded out the podium finishers with 639.50 points.
Mentored by Archie Lim, the Harpoons also bagged the last Speedo G-League Nationals overall crown.
The Makati Skipjack swimmers paced the individual open category with Johansen Aguilar and Fahad Alkhaldi picking up three gold medals each.
Aguilar, the reigning UAAP Athlete of the Year, dominated the 200m fly and both the 100m and 200m back.
The 17-year-old Alkhaldi ruled the 100m, 200m and 400m free.
Arianna Herranz emerged as the top performer in the women’s division with gold-winning performances in the 400 IM and the 100m and 200m back. Hana Dato also ruled in the 100m fly and 200m IM. Jasmine W. Payo
