MANILA, Philippines — La Salle guard Josh David seems to enjoy playing against University of the Philippines.
David emerged one of La Salle’s heroes in last season’s finals against UP and he was at it again on Sunday, playing a vital role in the Green Archers’ 68-56 win over the Fighting Maroons to end the first round of the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament.
“Hindi ko sinasayang yung opportunity na binibigay ng coaching staff sa akin, sobrang bonus na lang din kung mahigitan ko pa yung role ko,” said David after scoring 14 points on an efficient shooting night.

David provided quality minutes as he shot the lights out from downtown making four of his six attempts. He also grabbed seven rebounds.
David said every player on the La Salle roster is capable of helping the team win.
“Lahat naman kami ready palagi. Kung sino huhugutin sa amin, mags-step up,” he said.
David’s hot shooting helped the Archers move into first place in the standings at 6-1.

Albeit a stunning loss to University of the East two weeks ago, La Salle had a dominant campaign in the first round. The Green Archers, however, can’t afford to be complacent with tougher competition waiting in the second round.
“Siguro magandang panalo ‘to sa amin, lalo na magandang baon ito papuntang second round, pero kung titignan niyo madami pa kaming errors,” said David.
“Kailangan sa second round maitama na yung mga errors namin kasi alam naman natin sa second round game of adjustments na yun so kailangan maging ready pa.”
