UAAP: Kacey Dela Rosa frontrunner for women’s MVP anew
MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo star Kacey Dela Rosa’s seven consecutive double-doubles put her on track to win back-to-back MVP awards in the UAAP Season 87 women’s basketball tournament.
Dela Rosa impressed in the first round with 90.143 statistical points (SPs), averaging 21.43 points, 14.71 rebounds, 2.14 blocks, 1.29 assists, and 1.0 steal in seven games.

University of Santo Tomas star Kent Pastrana, who won the Season 86 Athlete of the Year for team sport, is second in the MVP race with 84.714 statistical points, averaging 17.29 points, 9.14 rebounds, 2.71 assists, 2.29 steals, and 1.43 blocks for the defending champion, which holds a 6-1 record after seven games.
Dela Rosa’s teammate, Junize Calagois third with 72.571 statistical points, followed by the University of the Philippines sophomore Louna Ozar with 71.571 SPs and another Blue Eagle Sarah Makanjuola with 67.429 SPs.
Article continues after this advertisementCompleting the top 10 statistical leaders are National University’s Angel Surada (65.714) and Camille Clarin (64.429), followed by UST’s former UAAP MVP Eka Soriano (64.0) at eighth, and UP’s Achrissa Maw (63.857) and UE’s Rachel Lacayanga (60.667) placing ninth and 10th, respectively.

In Junior high school, Ateneo’s Zane Kallos is leading the MVP race with 99.429 statistical points, holding a big lead against No.2 statistical leader Andwele Cabañero of UST, who had 88.714 SPs.
UP Integrated School’s Bruce Tubongbanua is third in the race with 86.0 SPs, followed by UST’s Jhon Canapi (85.286) and La Salle-Zobel’s Melvin Tailan (81.571) to complete the top five.
