After his sensational win over American Jorge Castaneda last month, Charly Suarez is locked in on his goal of getting that shot at a world title.
Suarez returned home a hero following a third-round stoppage of Castaneda last September 20 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
The 36-year-old Filipino fighter now sets his eye on a potential world championship bout against Emanuel Navarrete, WBO junior featherweight champion.

Navarette will pose a tough challenge for Suarez if the two meet with the young Mexican boasting of a record of 38 wins, two losses and one draw.
That’s why Suarez will work to remain in top shape in case the fight comes to fruition. First, he will await the results of the rematch between Navarette and Oscar Valdez.
“We’re really targeting Emmanuel Navarrete. He’s set to face Oscar Valdez in December. We have to be ready in case there’s an injury because Charly is the No. 1 ranked in WBO in case the fight is offered to us and we get this opportunity,” said coach and trainer Delfin Boholst during a press conference on Wednesday.
There’s also a push to hold Suarez’s next match in the Philippines. According to Boholst, Suarez’s main backer, Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson, is behind the idea and the boxer’s camp has already started negotiations with Top Rank Promotions.
