MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel Beer guard Terrence Romeo has been a veteran of the league for quite some time now and he showed why on Friday in Game 2 of the PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals against Ginebra.

When the Beermen needed him most, Romeo answered the call, scoring much of his points in the fourth quarter and overtime to push the series with the Gin Kings back to square one with one game a piece.

“I’m just staying ready in those moments,” said Romeo in Filipino at Araneta Coliseum after their 131-125 win over Ginebra in overtime.

The former TNT swingman, quite literally, saved his best for last as he scored 13 points in the fourth quarter and nine points in the extra period to keep Ginebra at bay and tie the best-of-seven series to 1-1.

Coach Jorge Gallent certainly didn’t leave Romeo’s efforts unnoticed and said he also served as a role model for other guys on the bench in terms of “staying ready” until their names are called.

“He’s always ready for that competition. He showed the guys that if his name’s called, he’ll deliver and that’s what he did now. [I’m] very happy that he played well,” said Gallent of Romeo.

“The things he did now with his minutes are great so I hope he continues to shoot and play like that [in this series].”
