MANILA, Philippines — Quezon overcame a slow start and took AM Caloocan Air Force, 23-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-12, to stay on top of the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) Season 1 on Saturday night at Quezon Convention Center in Lucena.

Rhea Mae Densing contributed 21 points, making the big plays for the Tangerines to dominate the next three sets after losing the first.

Mycah Go also sizzled in front of their home crowd, leading the Tangerines with 14 points, all coming from attacks.

The Tangerines clinched one of the two twice-to-beat bonuses in the semifinals after rising to an 11-1 record.

Cristy Ondangan and Mary Grace Borromeo also shone in Quezon’s first game in a pair of weekend home games in Lucena after delivering 10 and seven points, respectively.

Iari Yongco-Quimson was the lone bright spot with 18 points for Caloocan.

But their team is still in the race for the Final Four despite dropping to a 5-6 record for the next round of the league founded by former Senator and also MPBL chairman Manny Pacquiao and organized by Volleyball Masters of the Philippines.
