MANILA, Philippines — Rachel Anne Daquis is finally returning to action after more than a year of absence but this time, she will be donning an orange jersey and leading the young Farm Fresh Foxies in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Foxies on Friday announced their acquisition of the 36-year-old outside spiker, who is set to bring her leadership to the young team.

“The queen is back,” said Farm Fresh. “It’s been said a couple of times before: Farm Fresh needs a veteran outside hitter who can lead the team to greater heights. And that’s exactly what we got.”

This ends Daquis’ her seven-year tenure with the Cignal HD Spikers, whom she led to the 2022 PVL Reinforced Finals including another runner-up finish in the 2019 Philippines Superliga.

The Far Eastern University product, whose jersey No.3 was immortalized by her alma mater, last played in the PVL in last year’s Invitational Conference, which marked her final stint as an HD Spiker.

During her year-long hiatus, she had a coaches camp in the United States and handled her bakery in Barcelona, Spain.

Daquis will be teaming up with young guns Trisha Tubu, Jolina Dela Cruz, Caitlin Viray, Alyssa Bertolano, Rizza Cruz, Maicah Larroza, and Louie Romero.

The returning volleyball star is also set for a reunion with former Cignal teammate Jheck Dionela, who recently signed with the Foxies after an 11-year tenure as an HD Spikers, and possibly Alohi Robins-Hardy whose eligibility is up in the air due to the PVL Draft rules.

ZUS Coffee, Farm Fresh’s sister team, also signed Daquis’ best friend Jovelyn Gonzaga and acquired former Foxies Kate Santiago, Joan Narit, and Chinnie Arroyo after their contracts expired.
