PSA Cup tees off at Southwoods Masters
The third Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) tees off at the Masters course of the Manila Southwoods on Monday, with the host club opening the world-class layout to members of the country’s oldest media organization two weeks after Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” (international name: Trami) rendered the course unplayable.
The fellowship tournament, the second under the term of PSA president Nelson Beltran of the Philippine Star, aims to strengthen the relationship between PSA members and its longtime partners.
Manila Southwoods, under GM Jason Yu and assistant GM Jerome Delariarte, will give sportswriters a close look at the Jack Nicklaus-designed gem that will host the revival of the Philippine Open a five-year absence on Jan. 23 to Jan. 26. The $500,000 event will be the kickoff leg of the next Asian Tour season.
The 3rd PSA Cup is presented by ICTSI with support from the Philippine Sports Commission, San Miguel Corp., PBA, MPBL, PVL, Athletic Events and Sports Management, Inc. (ACES), Nonong Araneta, Jeff Cheng, MacBeth and NLEX.
