PBA Finals: RHJ focused on winning after latest Best Import plum
MANILA, Philippines—TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson isn’t the type to toot his own horn after being hailed Best Import of the PBA Governors’ Cup for the second straight season.
The former NBA journeyman owed his success and most recent accolade to his Tropang Giga teammates and coaches.
Article continues after this advertisement“It’s a team sport. I wouldn’t have gotten the award without my teammates but I was more so worried about the game and winning it,” said Hollis-Jefferson on Sunday at Araneta Coliseum.

“I give thanks to my teammates and coaches for helping me accomplish that. It’s something I can talk to my kids about in the future.”
It could’ve been a double celebration for Hollis-Jefferson but the Tropang Giga lost for the second straight game as the series got knotted up by Barangay Ginebra at 2-2.

“It’s an accomplishment but at the end of the day, I’ll reiterate and say it a million more times; I’m not playing this game to be worried about my individual accolades. I want to win.”
“It’s going to help me, my teammates and the people around us so that’s where my focus is.”
