MANILA, Philippines—Ray Parks Jr. had himself a game on Sunday in the Japan B.League but unfortunately, it didn’t translate to a win.

The Osaka Evessa faltered to the Sendai 89ers, 96-88, at Ookini Arena Maishima, despite the herculean efforts of their Filipino import.

Parks Jr. tallied a game-high 26 points with three assists, three rebounds, a steal and a block to match but to no avail as Osaka dropped to a 7-7 card.

Stanton Kidd spoiled Parks Jr.’s big game with 20 points and seven rebounds in the 89ers’ victory.

Gilas guard Dwight Ramos, meanwhile, faced the same fate on Sunday after Levanga Hokkaido bowed to the Utsonomiya Brex, 88-79, at Hokkai Kita-Yale.

Ramos, who will be competing for the Philippines in the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers in two weeks, finished with seven points, four assists and two blocks in 26 minutes of action but to no avail.

D.J. Newbill paced Brex in the dub with 27 points and nine rebounds to send Levanga crashing to a 5-9 record.

Matthew Wright, on the other hand, had a more positive weekend.

Wright’s Kawasaki Brave Thunders downed his former team Kyoto Hannaryz, 91-82, at Kataoka Arena Kyoto.

The former Kyoto swingman showed what Hannaryz missed out on with 14 points, five assists, four steals and two rebounds in the Kawasaki win that sent the squad to an improved 4-10 slate.

AJ Edu, meanwhile, didn’t get a chance to play in Nagasaki Velca’s narrow 55-54 loss at the hands of the Akita Northern Happinets at Happiness Arena.

Edu’s Velca dropped to a 6-8 record.
