PMMS rips Women’s

PHILIPPINE Merchant Marine School pummeled Philippine Women’s University, 78-38, on Thursday to remain unbeaten in the 4th Interscholastic Athletic Association basketball tournament.

Dhon Reverente had 19 points while Elmar Moradas added 13 markers to lead four players in double figures as the Mariners improved to a perfect 2-0 record in the cagefest backed by Molten and Mikasa of Sonia Trading, Globe and Abot Kaya Pinoy.

Defending champion Technological Institute of the Philippines, on the other hand, defeated Manila Tytana Colleges, 93-41, to bounce back from last week’s 69-62 loss to PMMS in the tournament opener.

Mark Faurillo scored 18 points as the Engineers now tote an even 1-1 slate for a share of fourth place with St. Dominic College of Asia.

Meanwhile, Last year’s runner-up La Consolacion College-Manila debuted in style, trouncing St. Dominic, 52-44, to join idle Feati University for second place at 1-0.

Josue Quintal fired 18 points to help the Blue Royals score a rousing win in their bid to rebound from their disappointing loss to TIP in the finals.

PWU and Manila Tytana dropped to similar 0-2 slates with their respective losses.

Action resumes today at the TIP gym in Manila at 8 a.m.
