THE 60-YEARS-OLD and above team of the Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) continued its rampage on Friday by dumping Sarawak, 78-61, for its third straight win in the 21st Asean Veterans Basketball Tournament in Brunei.
Jimmi Lim scored 24 points while Rain or Shine co-team owner Terry Que, Zotico Tan and Edward Ong combined for 20 points to firm up the Veterans’ bid for a back-to-back championship in the annual tournament.
Lim scored most his baskets through the feeds of former PBA great Lim Eng Beng and Crispa enforcer Bong dela Cruz.
Not to be outdone, FCVBA’s 40 and 50-years squads also blasted their respective rivals to boost their own title bids.
The Edward Tio-mentored 50-years team banked on a brilliant all-around performance of former Philippine team standout Elmer Reyes and the inside plays of La Salle star Kenneth Yap to whip Hat Yai of Thailand, 85-49.
Joey Sta. Maria, another former La Salle star, led the 40-years squad to a 94-64 win over Myanmar.
