PH pins Asian karting bid on Rivera siblings, Reyes

BROTHERS Milo and Estefano Rivera will spearhead the Philippines bid in the third round of the 2012 Asian Karting Open Championship set Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 at Carmona racetrack in Cavite.

Milo staged an impressive rally from the tailend of the 20-man field to capture the premiere Formula 125 Open Seniors plum while younger brother Estefano emerged champion in the Formula 125 Open Junior division during the previous leg.

Franco Reyes and CJ Tsui will also hope to improve on their last showing.

Reyes was runner-up behind Milo while Tsui placed fifth.

Other Filipino racers are Cebu’s Jette Calderon and Ryan Raymond Cudala who will vie in the Formula Open 125 Juniors.

Calderon, who topped the Pre-Final heat, was runner-up in the previous leg while Cudala wound up fourth to move to second overall with 45 points behind Macau round champion Dharma Mangkuluhur (72) of Indonesia.

Foreign bets from powerhouse Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong will arrive tomorrow .

Gabriel Arcaradine of Indonesia, who ended up fourth in the last race, hopes to firm up his hold on the top spot in the Formula Open 125 Senior class where he has 46 points. Steve Silva, Contributor
