PSC chair backs creation of sports HS
THE PHILIPPINE Sports Commission is strongly supporting the creation of a Philippine High School for Sports even if the government sports agency will not be directly involved in its operations.
PSC Chair Richie Garcia acknowledged yesterday that the PHSS is vital to sports development on the grassroots level based on his discussions with ministers of sports from other countries during his two-week stay in London for the Olympics.
“I had the chance to talk to some ministers of sports and that’s the program for us to succeed,” said Garcia. “For us to move forward and identify talents, there should be a high school dedicated for sports.”

“We endorse it. I think this is the only way to go,” said Garcia.
