The Lady Stags finished the first round of eliminations on top at 5-0 but head coach Roger Gorayeb downplayed his team’s perfect run so far.
“Mahaba pa liga,” said a discontented Gorayeb. “Kulang pa din kami ng player, wala si Nene (Bautista) but si Angela (Benting) maayos ang nilalaro.”
Bautista didn’t play due to a strained knee.
Foreign guest players Jeng Bualee and Utaiwan Kaensing led San Sebastian with 14 and 13 points respectively.
Gorayeb though wasn’t satisfied with Bualee’s play saying that the Thai spiker, for some reason, was not playing at her best.
“Si Jeng ’di 100 percent ’yan, ’di ko alam kung bakit, pero masama nilalaro niya.”
FEU made it a close contest in the second set after getting overwhelmed in the opening set but San Sebastian restored order in the third set where it padded on to its 4-0 start to build an 18-7 lead.
The Lady Tamaraws dropped to 0-5.
