MANILA, Philippines—Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala looks to follow up a stellar 2024 campaign with an even more successful 2025 season.
“I do think that I passed a lot of milestones this year but there are definitely moments where I thought I was so close to achieving more but it just didn’t happen. It’s okay, at the end I’m very happy with how I performed and improved this year,” said Eala on Power and Play.
“I’m excited to see how my game and the results are going to develop this year.”

Eala, who achieved her highest WTA ranking at 143 last July, said she’s excited to face 2025 with “so many goals.”
“I really love competing, I love being on the court, solving problems and facing the challenges. At the end of the day, you feel like you didn’t compete enough if you didn’t do those 10-11 months of work.”
“Just like every other job, it gives you a purpose and a goal to work towards. I have so many goals for next year so I’m more excited than anything.”
Most recently, Eala capped off her 2024 season with a semifinal finish in the ITF W100 in Dubai, faltering to top-seed Polina Kudermetova of Russia earlier this month.
