Faced with another busy schedule next year, Carlos Yulo will hit the ground running right after the holidays.
The 24-year-old gymnastics celebrity took a much-needed respite after winning two gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics last August.
And Yulo doesn’t want to be left behind as the new season trickles in.
“Other gymnasts around the world aren’t resting. I can’t wait to train again and do better next year,” said Yulo.
The two-time world champion in men’s artistic gymnastics kicks off his tour of duty in the FIG (International Gymnastics Federation) Apparatus World Cup from Feb. 20 to 23 in Cottbus, Germany, followed by the 12th Asian Gymnastics Championships in Jecheon, South Korea, on June 5 to 8.
10 golds
“I want to see what more I can improve on, so these tournaments are important to give me a feel of the competition,” said Yulo.
The pint-sized dynamo from Leveriza, Manila, won a total of 10 gold medals in the continental scene in a span of three years with his routines in the floor exercise, vault and parallel bars.
Yulo’s biggest meet will be the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta from Oct. 19 to 25, where he aims for a third world title after victories in the floor exercise in 2019 Stuttgart, Germany, and vault in 2021 Kitakyushu, Japan.
