NBA: Tristan da Silva drops 25 points, leads Magic past Raptors

Rookie Tristan da Silva scored a career-best 25 points and was 5-for-7 on 3-point attempts as the visiting Orlando Magic defeated the Toronto Raptors 106-97 in the NBA on Friday night.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 15 points for the Magic, who split a two-game road trip. Cory Joseph scored 11 points, and Goga Bitadze had 11 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.

Cole Anthony contributed nine points and 11 assists off the bench, and Jalen Suggs had six points before leaving the game with back spasms late in the second quarter.

Orlando made 19 3-pointers to control the game most of the way.

Jakob Poeltl scored 25 points for the Raptors, who have lost 12 of their last 13 games. Scottie Barnes added 20 points and nine rebounds, Immanuel Quickley had 11 points and 11 assists, and Ochai Agbaji added 15 points.

Orlando shot 9-for-14 from 3-point range in the first quarter to take a 37-24 lead.

Toronto opened the second quarter with a 7-3 burst. da Silva answered with seven consecutive points, and Suggs added a 3-pointer to complete a 10-0 run that bumped the margin to 19 points with 6:53 remaining in the first half.

Suggs twisted awkwardly as he fell with 3:06 to play in the second quarter and left the court in a wheelchair. He did not return.

Orlando led 62-50 at halftime.

Orlando opened a 19-point lead when Caldwell-Pope made a layup off a feed from Anthony with 7:40 remaining in the third quarter. Bitadze’s dunk increased the lead to 21 with 4:25 left in the quarter. The margin increased to 22 when Trevelin Queen hit a 3-pointer. Orlando led 88-68 after the third quarter.

Barnes scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 15. His 3-pointer with 9:18 to play trimmed Orlando’s lead to 90-78, and Ja’Kobe Walter’s trey further sliced the gap to nine with 6:04 to go. Anthony scored seven straight points and Orlando led by 17 with 2:03 to play.
