Kenneth Tuffin scored a putback with 0.3 ticks remaining to will Phoenix past red-hot Rain or Shine, 93-91, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday night.

The Filipino-Kiwi forward cleaned up a Jason Perkins miss to help the petrol club escape the Elastopainters by the skin of their teeth and to a second straight victory to start the new year.

“Any win in this conference is very big. First winning streak for Phoenix this conference, so we’re just happy and very proud,” head coach Jamike Jarin shortly after the upset at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

TNT muzzled Converge down the stretch on Saturday night to take a pulsating 98-96 victory in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Import Rondae Hollis Jefferson hit a tough, turnaround jumper with 1:08 left as the Tropang Giga kept it together the rest of the way to capture a fourth-straight win that hiked their record to 4-2.

“With a team like Converge, you cannot stop everything. You have to give something up. Luckily we were able to make those two crucial stops in the end,” said head coach Chot Reyes shortly after the clash at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

MANILA, Philippines—Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle had a reunion of sorts in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Friday.

A lot has changed, though, since both dynamic guards shared the floor for one team.

Romeo and Pringle’s reunion saw them don the Green and White once more. However, it’s not for the now-defunct Globalport but rather for the Terrafirma Dyip.

“Everyone could see how our [past] games have turned out. We’ve lost a lot of tough ones,” said Zav Lucero, whose 17 points and clutch free throws near the end helped tow the struggling powerhouse to a much-needed win to improve to 3-5. “We’ve got to win games—no more better fuel than that.
