PH sends 20 bets to Winter Games

With a total of three gold medals in the last two editions of the Olympics, the Philippines is hoping to take that success to the winter version of the Games next month in China.

Twenty Filipinos will see action in six of the 11 events in Harbin City from Feb. 7 to 14, seeking Team Philippines’ first gold medal in the Winter Games using what could be the biggest delegation for the country.

“We’ve already accomplished the dream in the Summer Olympics with three gold medals in consecutive games,’’ said Philippine Olympic Committee president (POC) Bambol Tolentino. “And that dream we want to also achieve in the Winter Olympics.’’

Curling, now one of the most-watched winter sports disciplines, will have 10 Filipinos taking part in with figure skaters Sofia Lexi Jacqueline Frank, Cathryn Limketkai, Paolo Borromeo, Aleksandr Korovin and Isabella Marie Gamez and alpine skiers Francis Ceccarelli and Tallulah Proulx the others playing for Team PH.
