MANILA, Philippines—TNT may have gotten away with the victory with NLEX in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup but Rondae Hollis-Jefferson didn’t look too thrilled at the end of the buzzer.

During TNT’s 94-87 win over the Road Warriors, Hollis-Jefferson had some heated moments on the bench where he’d occasionally walk away from huddles and isolate himself.

However, Tropang Giga coach Chot Reyes cleared the air and assured that there’s no rift between the squad and their stellar import.

MANILA, Philippines—Kevin Alas felt his old days in NLEX emerge again in PBA Commissioner’s Cup action at Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Wednesday.

Usually playing in careful and limited minutes after another ACL injury in late 2023, Alas was used a lot more than usual with Road Warriors star Robert Bolick being “under the weather.”

NLEX couldn’t take the win as it fell to TNT, 94-87, but Alas was still wearing his signature smile after getting his minutes and playing alongside a sick Bolick.

TNT scraped its way past NLEX, 94-87, Wednesday to stretch its winning streak heading into the marquee matchup with Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Tropang Giga bucked a Road Warriors side determined to end a losing spell to come away with a fifth consecutive victory after starting the midseason conference with back-to-back defeats.

Import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson scored 23 points but was left frustrated with his 7-of-25 shooting and missing half of his 12 free throws as TNT prevailed despite trailing by nine in the third.

MANILA, Philippines—Blackwater is currently taking on the PBA Commissioner’s Cup without two of their floor generals but fortunately, Justin Chua has been there to pick up the slack.

Despite being a big man, Chua played the role of shotcaller and leader to make up for the absences of guards Sedrick Barefield and RK Ilagan.

“I think I’m just trying to keep a positive attitude, hoping it rubs off on the others,” said Chua with Inquirer Sports after the Bossing’s 96-86 win over Terrafirma at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Blackwater snapped a four-game skid after defeating winless Terrafirma, 96-86, in a battle of two bottom-feeding teams Wednesday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Import George King dropped 26 points but bench players Justin Chua, Mike Ayonayon and Jaydee Tungcab were key in getting only the Bossing’s second victory after nine matches in the eliminations.

Chua had 17 points and 12 rebounds while Ayonayon and Tungcab added 15 and 11 points, respectively.

A few nights ago, Meralco import Akil Mitchell was visualizing the immensity of taking down league-leading NorthPort in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

And when he and the Bolts had that chance, Meralco turned that thought into something concrete on Tuesday night by cutting the top-ranked Batang Pier down to size, 111-94, at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

“NorthPort’s been playing really good basketball. They’ve been taking down quality teams,” Meralco coach Luigi Trillo said. “And like some of the coaches said, they are the real deal. But I think today, we just played better defensively.”
