Topex Robinson replaces Turo Valenzona as San Sebastian coach

MANILA—Former PBA guard Topex Robinson has been appointed as head coach of San Sebastian just days before Season 87 of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament fires off this Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Robinson replaced his former Stags mentor Turo Valenzona, who will still serve as team consultant.

“I used to play under him, so it will still be coach Turo’s system,” said Robinson, who had his coaching debut in the recent PBA D-League. “I’m actually more nervous now since I’m representing my alma mater.”

The Stags, led by Calvin Abueva, finished runner-up to San Beda last season, a year after bagging the 2009 crown.
