PVL: Chery Tiggo’s Cza Carandang out indefinitely after appendectomy

MANILA, Philippines — Chery Tiggo middle blocker Cza Carandang is ruled out indefinitely in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference due to a recent appendectomy.
The Crossovers on Monday announced that Carandang is set to miss some time after a successful surgery.
Article continues after this advertisement“We regret to announce that Czarina Carandang will be out until further notice due to her recent appendectomy. She has been discharged and is now recovering at home with her family,” the team wrote.

“We can’t wait to have you on the court with us again [Cza]. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery.”
Article continues after this advertisementCarandang shared pictures of her at the hospital and thanked everyone for their well wishes, assuring that she would be back soon.
“Akala ko simpleng kabag lang. It’s a prank,” Carandang quipped. “Thank you so much everyone for your tremendous love and support. Saglit lang to parang kagat lang ng ant.”
Carandang missed last Thursday’s game when Chery Tiggo fell to ZUS Coffee, 22-25, 22-25, 25-23, 20-25 for a 5-4 record in sixth place.
The Far Eastern University product has been playing well in their first two games this 2025, scoring 13 in their five-set collapse to Petro Gazz last January 21 and delivering 12 points in their four-set win over Farm Fresh last Jan. 25.
Chery Tiggo will bank on Aby Maraño, Pauline Gaston, and Seth Rodriguez as it waits for Risa Sato’s debut and Imee Hernandez’s return from a knee injury.
The Crossovers take on the unbeaten Creamline Cool Smashers (7-0) on Thursday at Philsports Arena.
Choco Mucho’s Kat Tolentino also had surgery due to a ruptured appendix.
