MANILA, Philippines—RJ Abarrientos had a chance to change the course of Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals between Ginebra and Meralco Friday night.
In the dying seconds of Game 2, Abarrientos saw an opening to send the game to overtime but misfired on a long-range four-pointer, letting Meralco come away with a 108-104 win over the Gin Kings.
Ginebra’s prized rooke defended his game-tying attempt, making most of a play that he said was initially meant for Justin Brownlee.

Rain or Shine took everything Converge could offer on Friday night to carve a 114-104 triumph in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals.
Adrian Nocum came off the bench and put on the heat in the final period to finish with 28 points, four rebounds, and three assists, helping the ElastoPainters forge a sudden death this Sunday at Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
“For one, our defense was better today,” head coach Yeng Guiao said on the heels of the win at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

MANILA, Philippines—With their backs against the walls in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals, the Meralco Bolts turned to Jansen Rios and he promptly delivered.
Rios helped pace Meralco to a 108-104 victory over the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings in Game 2 of, pushing the best-of-three decider to a sudden death for a semifinals berth.

Meralco kept it together in the second half on Friday night, putting out fire after fire on the way to a 108-104 victory over Ginebra in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals.
The Bolts, behind the heroics of cornerstone Chris Newsome and Jansen Rios, leveled the short series against the crowd darlings, forging a you-or-me Game 3 set this Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines–Meralco and Ginebra have gone on to write one of the more colorful rivalries in the PBA over the past few years.
Justin Brownlee played most of that newfound rivalry against the Bolts in recent history while Meralco had its own import to match up against the Gin Kings’ resident import.

MANILA, Philippines—Meralco coach Luigi Trillo had excuses after the Bolts bowed to Ginebra in Game 1 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup’s best-of-three quarterfinals.
Meralco succumbed to the Gin Kings, 100-92, to virtually be pushed back to a twice-to-win disadvantage on Wednesday at Araneta Coliseum.
