MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine stayed alive in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals behind the efforts of one of the league’s rising stars, Adrian Nocum.
On Friday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium, the Elasto Painters zoomed past the FiberXers, 114-104, to push their best-of-three series to a rubber match.
Most of Rain or Shine’s offensive firepower came from sophomore star Nocum but instead of taking all the glory, he credited his fellow Elasto Painters.

“They’re the reason for my points, it’s all because of my teammates,” said Nocum in Filipino.
“We’re just sticking to our coaches’ game plans plus we hear out the suggestions of each other.”
The Mapua product balled out to keep the Elasto Painters’ title bid going with 28 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Of course, his offensive outburst didn’t come without his nifty and acrobatic moves.
“’Di ko rin alam bat nagagawa ko yung mga gano’n,” said Nocum. (I don’t know how I’m doing those things either.)

In over 29 minutes of play, Nocum missed just six of his 17 attempts from the field for a staggering 64.7 percent shooting clip.
Nocum even matched their import’s scoring output as Deon Thompson finished with a double-double of 28 points and 18 rebounds.
Nocum and the Elasto Painters aim to complete their quarterfinals comeback in Game 3 on Sunday at Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
