MANILA, Philippines—Commissioner Ato Badolato junked National University’s protest Wednesday and upheld’s Far Eastern University’s 77-75 win on RR Garcia’s controversial game-winner.
Although Badolato ruled against the Bulldogs’ protest, NU management can still appeal to the Technical Committee, which then will give their recommendation to the UAAP board, which has the final call.
Garcia hit a lay-up with just a tenth of second left on the clock to give the Tamaraws the crucial triumph Sunday, but questions whether he released the ball in time were raised though the game officials ruled it counted.
NU head coach Eric Altamirano thought it was a “questionable call.”
The setback dropped the Bulldogs to solo fifth with a 6-5 record behind La Salle with just a few games left in the eliminations.
